In the moment

Just speak. It goes both ways.

It works out who spoke on its own. No button to press back and forth each time someone talks.

Both languages, at once

Two recognizers run side by side. Which one spoke is decided from the shape of the script and how sure each one is.

iPhone listens, AirPods play

Opening the AirPods microphone drops playback to phone-call quality, so listening is done with the iPhone itself.

Show it to them

The screen splits in two, with the top half turned around to face the other person — for places where speaking aloud isn't easy.

What stays afterwards

When you finish talking, the record is already there.

The conversation becomes a record with the original and its translation, line by line. Nothing to transcribe afterwards.

Type in either language and you land on the same line.

Export as text with the original and translation kept together.
Fix a translation
Register company or product names you want rendered a certain way. It replaces after translating, so short names work more reliably than long phrases.

It uses the on-device speech recognition and translation built into iOS. What's said is never sent to our servers.

Nothing is sent
Neither audio nor text reaches us. There is no account.
Getting the language data
The first time, the data for each language comes from Apple. After that, handling the conversation needs no connection.
Where records live
Records and recordings stay on the device. Whether to take them out is up to you.

Does it need an internet connection?
Listening and translating happen entirely on the device. A connection is only needed the first time, to get the data for each language from Apple.
Which languages can I use?
You can choose from the languages iOS supports for both recognition and translation. Which ones are available depends on your device and iOS version, so the app shows the current list.
Can it get the speaker wrong?
Yes. Pairs where the script itself is a clue (Japanese and Simplified Chinese, for instance) are easier to tell apart; pairs that share a script are more prone to mix-ups. Where a pair is hard to distinguish, the language screen says so.
Is it a subscription or a one-time purchase?
You can choose either a one-time purchase or a monthly plan. Everything is open for 7 days. Please check the App Store for prices.
What happens when the trial ends?
Translation itself keeps working. Keeping new records, recordings, and adding glossary terms stop, but records you already have can still be read and exported.
What if I change phones?
Restore Purchases in the App Store brings back what you bought. Records live on the device and are not synced, so export them if you want to bring them along.
